Chesnok Red - Purple Stripe hardneck variety. Originated from Shvelisi, Achakiche Province, in the southern region of the Republic of Georgia, AKA “Shvelisi”. The Purple Stripe horticultural group has been awarded the “best baked garlic” by Martha Stewart, Sunset Magazine and Rodale Press. Chesnok Red truly maintains its flavor after cooking and it is consistent producer. .. A superior varietal that should be in all garlic lovers’ gardens. 10 - 12 cloves per bulb. 50 - 60 cloves per pound. Late harvest. Stores 5 - 6 months. Small bulbs store the longest. [Hot] Recommended for Zones 1-9.
Shantang Purple - Turban Hardneck variety. Turbans are extremely adaptable and can grow in diverse climates, ranging from mild, warm winters, to cold, wet winters. Turbans are a sub-species of the Artichoke group; they are weak bolting and sometimes produce a weak scape, resembling a softneck. The outer skin has the beautiful silky white and rich lavender stripes. 6 - 8 cloves per bulb. 38 - 48 cloves per pound. Early harvest. Stores 6 - 7 months.
