Rocambole hardneck variety. Originated from the Pacific Northwest, originally from Tonasket, Washington, and later discovered in Portland, Oregon. A great choice for the Pacific Northwest and other wet winter climates. Rocamboles are known for their sweet, full bodied flavor, and in U.S. taste tests, Spanish Roja is rated at the top of the charts. The bulbs have large cloves that are easy to peel and often form double cloves. 6 to 11 cloves per bulb. 45 to 60 cloves per pound. Mid to late harvest. Stores 5 to 6 months. Zones 1 to 7. Produces scapes. Medium.
