The 1/2 pound Variety Pack includes a 1/4 pound of Shantang Purple (Turban - hardneck) and a 1/4 pound of Inchelium Red. A great choice for a small garden. The Variety Packs contain four superb varieties for any gardener or chef.
- Chesnok Red is a beautiful Purple Stripe that keeps its strong garlic flavor even after cooking, a great addition to garlic mashed potatoes. Chesnok Red is an all around superior variety. 10-12 cloves per bulb. 50-60 cloves per pound. Late harvest. 4-5 month storage. [Medium - Hot]
- Shantang Purple is a Turban hardneck variety. Turbans are a sub-species of Artichoke garlic. A great garlic for varied climates, it can handle hot dry climates as well as cold northern climates. Shantang Purple has moderate to strong heat, especially when eaten raw. 6 - 8 cloves per bulb. 38 - 48 cloves per pound. Early harvest. Stores 6 - 7 months. [Medium - hot]
- Korean Red is an Asiatic hardneck variety. Cloves have brown skins with a dark reddish blush. A spicy garlic flavor with good storage quality. 7 - 10 cloves per bulb. 60-65 cloves per pound. Mid harvest. Stores 6 months. [Hot]
- Inchelium Red is an Artichoke variety that has great garlic flavor, large purple skinned bulbs, and a long storage quality. Softneck garlic is used for braiding. 12-15 cloves per bulb. 60 - 75 cloves per pound. Early to mid harvest. 7 - 8 month storage. [Medium]
