Asian Tempest – Asiatic hardneck variety. Originating in South Korea and brought to the US by Horace Shaw. Rich burgundy striped bulbs that yield nice large cloves. The most popular of all the Asiatics, Asian Tempest is a great producer with a well-rounded flavor. It is said to have a more intense flavor than its Purple Stripe cousins and has a longer shelf life.
Asian Tempest Garlic characteristics: 7 to 10 cloves per bulb. 60 to 65 cloves per pound. Mid harvest. Stores 6 months. Zones 3 to 10. Recommended for zones 3 to 10. Produces scapes. Hottest.
