Artichoke Softneck Variety
Transylvanian artichoke softneck variety. Originated from the Transylvanian province of Romania, and brought to the U.S. by Chester Aaron.
This softneck variety produces large bulbs with dappled patches of crimson red. It has a buttery smooth start that finishes with some heat (and of course it will chase off the vampires!) Akin to the Transylvanian Alps, this softneck thrives in cold winter climates. A huge producer, in the garden one pound of seed will yield over 80 plants. This Artichoke softneck varietal is an excellent choice for braiding due to it’s gorgeous red and purple bulb skin color. All Hood River Garlic is Certified Organic and grown in the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon and Washington, USA.
